A Russian Soyuz capsule landed in the steppes of Kazakhstan early Saturday, bringing home an American and two Russian astronauts from the International Space Station a day after their original return was delayed by foul weather. The astronauts, Kevin Ford of the United States and Oleg Novitskiy and Evgeny Tarelkin of Russia, had spent 144 days aboard the space station. NASA said the spacecraft's descent had gone flawlessly and that the capsule had landed upright, almost hitting its target in a thick fog. Television images broadcast after the landing showed the three smiling astronauts seated on semi-reclined chairs and covered with blue thermal blankets.
